Final for Watson on opening day of British Champs

James Watson has reached the final of the 16 years 400m freestyle on the first day of the British Summer Championships at Ponds Forge.

Setting a new club record in the heat with a 4:09.58, Watson lowering the mark again in the final in 4:09.52, finishing in 7th place.

Lauren Matthews also swam her first event today, the 400m individual medley, swimming a heat time of 5:14.76, finshing in 15th place overall.
