Captain Hicks turns Keeper as Dolphin Win Away Again
Swindon Dolphin emerged triumphant on Thursday night beating a much fancied Bristol Central II team by 17 goals to 14 away from home. The result was all the more impressive considering that the opposition fielded three players who were part of their team who won the prestigious National League Division 1 title last year. Despite conceding a few early goals, Dolphin recovered well with some well worked scores and always seemed in control. By half time the Milton Road outfit were 4 in the lead – a lead they were never to lose, eventually coming out on top with 3 to spare.
However, it might well have been a less favourable outcome for the Swindon team when Goalkeeper, Andy Watts, who had made many fine saves during the course of the match, was dismissed late on, but captain Andy Hicks took over between the sticks and Dolphin held out for a momentous victory.
Michal Trzeciak contributed 5 goals, Hicks and Diogo Monteiro scored 4 each, Matt James got 2 while David Quinlivan and Ian Brewer secured 2 apiece.
A relieved Watts said after the match “we played tremendously well and continued our fine form from last Sunday. We now have a month off before we start our next run of fixtures.”
