Fierce Rivalry between Squads at Dolphin 10 Pin Night

Swindon Dolphin Masters added another trophy to their cabinet with a narrow victory in the annual Inter Squad 10 Pin Bowling competition at Shaw Ridge on Thursday. A total of sixty swimmers, coaches, officials and parents competed in this year’s event with places sold out in less than 24 hours.

Winners

The eight strong Masters team averaged 116.13, thanks in no small part to 173 from Mark Pearcey. In second place was the High Performance squad with 116.00, with sole team member Cathal Westman also scooping the Boys’ Under 18 Trophy. The Girls’ Under 18 Trophy went to Lucy Wright, whose impressive Junior Squad, with three of the four team members scoring over 100, were just pipped for third place by the Land Lovers. Top individual performance of the evening was Lee Snyder’s 192, bringing him the Men’s Trophy, and fellow Officials team member Jacky Gardo was the Ladies Champion with 137.

Young Dolphins in good form at the 10 Pin night

As well as the main competition, battles were being fought on all lanes. Lane 19 was typical with an epic husband / wife competition between Jacky and Manny Gardo, and a fiercely fought dual  between the club’s Press Officer, Stephen Westman, and 6 year old Denice Gardo with Stephen pushing the youngster all the way before Denice’s 94 eventually gave her a comfortable 20 point advantage.

The Inter Squad 10 Pin Bowling competition goes from strength to strength and has become the most popular social event on the calendar. Big Thanks to Dean Fouracre for the excellent organisation and for producing the final results much more quickly than the average gala.
