Sx3 Put on a Good Show at Gloucester

With the end of the season nearly here, there is no better time to swim personal bests; and no better place to swim them than at the superb GL1 Leisure Centre competition pool at Gloucester.

GL1 was the setting for the Regional Sprint competition on 28th June which sees all regional qualifiers, who are not training for national competition, compete over 50m in each stroke and a 100m individual medley. Although not strictly the correct way of using the points system, the age group points awarded for each swim are added together and overall top three awards given in each age category.

The months of training leading up to the main long course championships a few weeks earlier were still paying dividends as most swimmers set new personal bests across all strokes.

Highest finishing Swindon competitor was Tom Iles finishing top in the 14 year boys and also recording the fastest 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle in his age group.  Team mate James Clark also recorded a fastest time in the 100m individual medley and picked up overall bronze.

Other overall top 10 finishers were Samuel Hunter (7th – 10 year boys), Thomas Codling (4th – 11 year boys), Cathal Westman (4th – 16 year boys), Georgina Pitts (6th – 11 year girls), Charlotte Gardo (6th – 13 year girls) and Georgina Mason (6th – 16 year girls).

Swimmers with fastest times in individual events were Charlotte Gardo (50m butterfly) and Niall Westman (50m breaststroke).

Full results are available on the Competition page.
